Schotten Totten 2

Schotten Totten 2 features gameplay familiar to anyone who's played Schotten Totten, but with a few twists.

This time, one player is the attacker who is trying to breach the walls of the defender, and players will assemble their forces by playing cards into formations at seven locations on the battlefield. Locations will hold 2-4 cards as depicted on each spot, and in most cases (but not all) the strongest formation in a location will claim that spot. The strength of a location is determined by the poker-style hands that players will create by playing cards one by one.

The defender has three boiling oil tokens available to them to clear out the attacker's cards. The deck consists of cards numbered 0-11 in five colors, along with ten tactical cards.

Product Details
Schotten Totten 2 is a two-player, asymmetrical card game where one player is the attacker and the other is the defender. The attacker tries to win by damaging four of the seven wall segments, while the defender wins by outlasting the attacker until the deck of cards runs out. Players create poker-style hands with cards to claim dominance over wall sections, with a deck of 0-11 numbered cards in five colors and ten tactical cards.
Gameplay mechanics
  • Roles: The game features asymmetric roles: the Attacker and the Defender.
  • Objective (Attacker): Damage four wall segments to win the game.
  • Objective (Defender): Prevent the attacker from reaching their victory condition until the deck runs out.
  • Core mechanic: Players lay cards face-up onto one of seven wall locations to create the strongest hand, similar to poker hands.
  • Hand strength: The strength of hands is determined by combinations like runs, three of a kind, and color sets.
  • Tactical cards: The game includes special tactical cards that can be used to manipulate the game state.
  • Boiling oil: The defender has a limited number of "boiling oil" tokens to remove the attacker's cards from a location.
  • Player actions: On a turn, a player plays a card, and depending on their role, may also take a special preparation action. Afterward, they draw a new card.
Key differences from the original Schotten Totten
  • Asymmetry: The most significant change is that the attacker and defender have different victory conditions, which makes the gameplay experience very different for each player.
  • Wall locations: The rules and requirements for each of the seven wall locations are now specific, adding variety and requiring different strategies.
  • 0-11 cards: The inclusion of a "0" card that can defeat an "11" card creates a new dynamic.
